Book Synopsis

Peter Welmerink’s Hunt for the Fallen: Captain Jacob Billet
Journal Entry – Sunday April 5, 2026

It’s raining, it’s pouring, the undead are roaring…

Amassed at the UCRA east end enclosure, the dead strain the fence line while soldiers keep watchful eyes, the survivors on the opposite side of the rising river about to lose their minds.

It’s a crazy time: nonstop precipitation; everyone’s up in arms; paranoid city council members with an asshat City Treasurer. Water, water everywhere. Zees dropping into the churning drink. Troops afraid of being stitched up and thrown back into the fray as Zombie Troopers. Tank commanders getting itchy to head out on their own after drug-laden shamblers. Reganshire insurgents trying to extract our west side civvies for some unknown reason, possibly pushing the city into taking heavy-handed action against them.

Then there’s some black-haired dead dude staring at me through the fence, grinning like he’s off his meds.

And I thought Lettner was a headache.

All this sh*t might give me a heart attack.

Hunt for the Fallen is Transport Book Two

Brick Marlin’s Shadow Out of the Sky: A scarecrow crucified on a wooden cross made from a pair of two-by-fours sits in a field of corn, placed there to frighten away birds and protect the crops. Under its straw hat large buttons pose as its eyes, placed there by child’s fingers, view something sinister in the grave sky, appearing in front of the full moon.

Twisting, it forms into a sleek black mass, peering down upon the town of Woodbury. Four demons called The Reckoning has pulled this shadow, this urban legend from the past, out of an unmarked grave to bring terror across the planet, shoving it toward an apocalypse.

Now it cuts through the air, as if it were opening wounds in flesh, peering down at the first house that it hovers over…

About Brick Marlin: Brick Marlin has been writing since he was a child. From an early age he was exposed to older horror movies. The great ones making their mark in history. He also tackled reading the likes of Stephen King, Clive Barker, Ray Bradbury, Kurt Vonnegut, Dean Koontz, Charles Dickens, Harper Lee, H.G. Wells, etc. Thus, he decided to engage himself and write horror, dark fantasy and dark sci-fi, scaring readers such as his parents, his friends, neighbors, and even leaving a few school teachers scratching their heads wondering if the boy should be committed or not with his gruesome tales of terror. Short story ideas continued to visit. A book idea or two sometimes stopped by for a sit. In 2007 he decided to take a more professional approach with his work. Hence, as a member of the Horror Writers Association, already having nine books published by small presses – this you hold in your hand, constant reader, makes his tenth – nearly thirty short stories published, adding to the few anthologies and collaborations with other authors, Brick Marlin trudges onward, hoping to achieve more creations, wallowing in the brain pans of his characters, giving them the choice whether to twist the knob and enter through the Red Door, or enter through the Blue Door where a group of servo monkey badgers are consuming packages of cinnamon-flavored Pop Rock Candy with a Kung Fu Punch of caffeine.

This is Michael West at his terrifying best! From heart-stopping horror to the strangest of fantasies — these are tales from the darkest regions of his twisted imagination! All the usual tropes are here — vampires and shapeshifters, ghosts and witches, gods and monsters, mummies and zombies — but none of them are exactly what you would expect…

A dream vacation takes a nightmarish turn when a couple finds they did not come home alone…

A man agrees to a meeting with his estranged wife and learns the horrible, obscene truth of the old saying: “Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned…”

An American platoon, cut off from the outside world, discovers an unbelievable enemy they were never trained to fight…

And a man struggling with depression and grief receives text messages from beyond the grave, messages that push him to the edge of sanity…and beyond…

Ten more reasons to say your prayers.

Ten more reasons to check beneath your bed.

Ten more reasons why you may never want to close your eyes again.

About Michael West: Michael West is the bestselling author of Cinema of Shadows, The Wide Game, Spook House, Skull Full of Kisses, and the critically-acclaimed Legacy of the Gods series. The brand new imprint will issue releases in both digital and print formats.  The first titles will be released later this fall and a new website for Seventh Starlight will be unveiled soon.

The new logo for Seventh Starlight is below, created by David Rupp of Ninth Circle Designs:

.
.

Spearheading the new imprint as the edtior for Seventh Starlight titles is Jessica Glanville. Jessica  holds an M.A. in English from Winthrop University and is a graduate of the SC Governor’s School of the Arts in creative writing.  She was a teaching assistant in composition in graduate school at Winthrop and taught composition and communications at York Technical College before becoming a published author.

Under various pseudonyms, she has published nine works of fiction, including a TV tie-in novel published by Berkley Books (Penguin Group), six historical paranormal romances published by Pocket Books (Simon & Schuster), one self-published short story collection, and a horror romance published by Purple Sword Publications.  Seventh Starlight represents her first post as an editor-in-chief.  She lives in Chester, South Carolina, with her husband, artist Justin Glanville.

Continuing the Seventh Star Press tradition of presenting titles featuring high quality artwork, Seventh Starlight titles will also feature illustrated covers. The artist selected for cover art on the new imprint is Anne Rosario. Anne is a self-taught Filipino visual artist specializing in both digital and traditional mediums.  Her style is a unique mix of the naturalistic and the whimsical, combining the elegance of fine art with the edgy grit of contemporary Manga. She has worked as a 2D artist in the game development industry since 2006, and has recently branched into creating illustrations and exhibiting her traditonal artworks in group exhibits.

She’s also a part of two local organizations, “Ang I.n.K” (Illustrador ng Kabataan – a group that promotes the rights and artworks of artists in children’s book illustration industry) and “Kasibulan” (Kababaihan sa Sining at Bagong Sibol na Kamalayan – a group composed of filipina artists in different fields and genres of visual, literary, and performing arts.)

Three exceptional authors will be spotlighted in the first wave of  releases from Seventh Starlight, Alexandra Christian, Crymsyn Hart and Siobhan Kinkade.

Alexandra “Lexxx” Christian

Alexandra “Lexxx” Christian’s work primarily involves paranormal erotic romance and horror. Lexxx is a native South Carolinian who has published several novels, novellas and short stories with Ellora’s Cave, Purple Sword Publications, Mocha Memoirs Press and most recently, Seventh Star Press.

Crymsyn Hart

Crymsyn Hart is a best-selling author who has written over eighty novels all falling in the paranormal romance, supernatural, dark fantasy erotic category.  Her latest is the Seventh Star Press release Death’s Dance, Book One of the Deathly Encounters Series. With a love of the macabre and a bit of a Goth, Crymsyn worked as a psychic medium while she went to college in Boston at one of the country’s oldest tearoom. She attended Emerson College and graduated with a degree in Writing, Literature and Publishing.

Siobhan Kinkade
Pronounced Shi-von, Siobhan Kinkade originally started out as a Dungeons & Dragons character. True story! She was an obnoxious little blonde-haired, violet-eyed half-elf rogue who had a bad habit of screaming at random and stealing things from her fellow travelers. She made the transition from fantasy RPG character to fantasy literary character in 2011. S.H. Roddey wrote a story out of her usual genre, and she decided she needed a pen name rather than confuse her audience. The romance is strong with this one. Some is sweet and some is spicy. It’s about half and half on the paranormal/contemporary fields, and all of it is quite good!
.
Fans of romance and speculative fiction everywhere should look to the stars, as Seventh Starlight will be shining down upon the book world very soon!
