Cover Reveal for Steven L. Shrewsbury’s Born of Swords, the New Gorias La Gaul Novel!

Seventh Star Press is proud to reveal the cover by Enggar Adirasa for Born of Swords, the new Gorias La Gaul Novel from Steven L. Shrewsbury.

Born of Swords will make it’s debut at Hypericon, a speculative fiction convention in Nashville TN June 19-21, and then be made available in all eBook formats and print the following week.

Born of Swords is the latest novel starring the iconic hero Gorias La Gaul, returning readers to the world unveiled in the novels Overkill, Thrall, and the short story collection Blood and Steel: Legends of La Gaul.

What makes a legend but the stories told about him? Interviewing Gorias La Gaul, the biggest legend of them all, is a dream come true for young scribe Jessica. Where other girls her age would swoon beneath the steely gaze of the warrior, Jessica only has eyes for his mouth, and the tales that come from it…when he takes a break from cursing or drinking.

Unfortunately for Jessica, Gorias doesn’t really have time to babysit. She’s found him in the midst of an annual pilgrimage of sorts, and though he agrees to let her come along, it’s not without a warning: You may not like what you see and hear. Just don’t come crying afterward.

Whether viewing past visions with magical gemstones or jumping into the fray alongside the barbarian, Jessica’s about to get firsthand accounts she won’t soon forget…and discover legends are far from reality, and just as far from being pretty. You wouldn’t expect a youth of love and friendship from the greatest killer to walk the Earth, would you?

These are tales of some of Gorias’ earliest days, back before he’d found his swords, to a time when a dragon needed killing. Tales back before his heart had hardened. Maybe. For most men, the future is not certain and the past is prologue. For a legend like Gorias La Gaul, even the past is up for debate. One thing is for certain about these tales. They will be bloody.  Such is always the way for a man…

Born of Swords…

Synopsis: The Colonies lost the Revolutionary War. Now it’s 1839 and the North American continent is divided into three territories: New Britannia, Nueva Espana, and Nouvelle France where seventeen-year-old Claire Poissant lives.

Claire has a magical way with words—literally. But a mystical power of persuasion isn’t the only thing that makes her different. Half-French and half-Indian, Claire doesn’t feel at home in either world. Maybe that’s why she’s bonded so tightly with her fellow outcasts and best friends: Phileas, a young man whose towering intellect and sexuality have always made him the target of bullies, and Sam, a descendant of George Washington who shares the disgraced general’s terrible, secret curse.

But when Sam’s family is murdered, these bonds are tested and Claire’s special ability is strained to its limits as the three hunt the men responsible into dangerous lands. Along the way they cross paths with P.T. Barnum, William Frankenstein and other characters from both history and fantasy as they learn the hard way that man is often the most horrific monster and that growing up sometimes means learning to let go of the things you hold most dear.

Elizabeth Donald Joins the Seventh Star Press Family With Compendium of Nocturnal Urges Novels!

Seventh Star Press is proud to announce Elizabeth Donald as the latest addition to our author family with a new compendium containing her highly-acclaimed Nocturnal Urges novels! Featuring brand new cover art by A. Christopher Drown, the release is set for late March and will bring Elizabeth’s popular series back into eBook and print editions for fans worldwide!

“We are thrilled to have Elizabeth join the Seventh Star Press family as we move into a new and exciting phase at the press,” commented Seventh Star Press representative Stephen Zimmer.  “She is one of the most well-loved authors on the convention circuit, by both readers and peers alike.  Her exceptional talents as a writer are well-established.  We couldn’t be more excited to have this great series and world-class author find a home with us.”

The forthcoming release will contain the novels Nocturnal Urges, A More Perfect Union, and Abaddon, the original three installments in the Nocturnal Urges series. The series features an alternate version of present-day Memphis in which vampires walk among us, but are not treated as our equals. They work the night shift, the jobs no one else wants, and they’re not too happy about it. Meanwhile, humans take advantage of the pleasures vampires can provide, but call them friends? Lovers? The gap between human and vampire stretches wide as death rises in the streets of Memphis.

Synopsis of the three novels included in this compendium:

Nocturnal Urges: It’s the most popular club in the Memphis nightlife. Part legal bordello, part feeding ground for the city’s vampires, Nocturnal Urges offers pleasure and pain in one sweet kiss. It’s the ultimate addiction: both drug and sex at once. For the vampires, it’s the only way to survive in a world where the creatures of the night are a dark underclass, ignored until the humans need another fix.

Into this world comes Isabel Nelson, a young woman seeking only a night’s pleasure. But after Isabel’s lover takes her to try the bite, she cannot stop thinking about Ryan, the dark vampire with whom she shared her lifeblood – and who is now suspected of murder. Isabel falls into a world where passion and love are miles apart, where life and unlike have little meaning… and someone is hunting in the shadows.

A More Perfect Union: Samantha Crews has lived a long time in the shadows of Memphis, working at Nocturnal Urges and hiding from the vampires that darken her past.

Det. Anne Freitas is stuck with a new partner, a young woman with a chip on her shoulder. Now they’re assigned to investigate a series of threats against congressional candidate Robert Carton, for whom Samantha volunteers.

But Samantha is falling for Danny Carton, the candidate’s son – an idealist who wants to make life better for humans and vampires alike. But there’s a lot Danny doesn’t know about Samantha.

He doesn’t know she’s a vampire.
He doesn’t know she works at Nocturnal Urges.
He doesn’t know his own father is one of her clients.
And he doesn’t know what’s stalking her…

Abaddon: Abbadon. The Lady Zorathenne requests the honor of your presence at a celebration. A toast, if you will. Followed by a feast.

Beneath the dark Memphis streets, something is stirring. Filled with ancient fury. Seeking revenge on the ones who live above. A revenge born in fire.

The fires are ranging in Memphis and no one is safe. Ryan and Samantha must descend into darkness beyond their imagining to find answers to the mysteries of the past, as Detectives Freitas and Parker seek the truth about the present.

And the return of an old foe could make the future a dark place indeed… save for the flames of Abaddon.

Here’s what some reviewers have had to say about the Nocturnal Urges series…

“Gripping and raw with intense emotion and great characters… This vampire world and its characters are created so realistically you almost expect to hear about them on the evening news, and not be able to sleep afterwards.” — Coffee Time Romance

“ An old-fashioned whodunit with the violence we’ve come to expect in any vampire novel; a love affair against the odds; and a vampire with a tortured past… definitely a keeper!” — Vampire Book Club

“One can never fully prepare for the onslaught of a Donald novel. I should have known that… The tension increases throughout, making it impossible to set aside this book until reaching the last page.” — Author Kit Tunstall

“Not a romance by any means… a story of loss and revenge. A story of love and a hate that has lasted for a hundred years and that will not be denied. It is a story of fire. The fire of the human and the vampire hearts… A storytelling ability to rival that of Stephen King.” — Enchanting Reviews

“The unexpected way this story evolves is magnificent. If you, like me, are enamored with vampires, then this is the book for you.” — Coffee Time Romance

“Enthralling and dark with danger, suspense and sex, Nocturnal Urges is a must-read for vampire fans.” — Romance Reviews Today

Book Synopsis

Peter Welmerink’s Hunt for the Fallen: Captain Jacob Billet
Journal Entry – Sunday April 5, 2026

It’s raining, it’s pouring, the undead are roaring…

Amassed at the UCRA east end enclosure, the dead strain the fence line while soldiers keep watchful eyes, the survivors on the opposite side of the rising river about to lose their minds.

It’s a crazy time: nonstop precipitation; everyone’s up in arms; paranoid city council members with an asshat City Treasurer. Water, water everywhere. Zees dropping into the churning drink. Troops afraid of being stitched up and thrown back into the fray as Zombie Troopers. Tank commanders getting itchy to head out on their own after drug-laden shamblers. Reganshire insurgents trying to extract our west side civvies for some unknown reason, possibly pushing the city into taking heavy-handed action against them.

Then there’s some black-haired dead dude staring at me through the fence, grinning like he’s off his meds.

And I thought Lettner was a headache.

All this sh*t might give me a heart attack.

Hunt for the Fallen is Transport Book Two

Brick Marlin’s Shadow Out of the Sky: A scarecrow crucified on a wooden cross made from a pair of two-by-fours sits in a field of corn, placed there to frighten away birds and protect the crops. Under its straw hat large buttons pose as its eyes, placed there by child’s fingers, view something sinister in the grave sky, appearing in front of the full moon.

Twisting, it forms into a sleek black mass, peering down upon the town of Woodbury. Four demons called The Reckoning has pulled this shadow, this urban legend from the past, out of an unmarked grave to bring terror across the planet, shoving it toward an apocalypse.

Now it cuts through the air, as if it were opening wounds in flesh, peering down at the first house that it hovers over…

Shadow Out of the Sky is Book One of the Transitional Delusions Series

She has worked as a 2D artist in the game development industry since 2006, and has recently branched into creating illustrations and exhibiting her traditonal artworks in group exhibits.

She’s also a part of two local organizations, “Ang I.n.K” (Illustrador ng Kabataan – a group that promotes the rights and artworks of artists in children’s book illustration industry) and “Kasibulan” (Kababaihan sa Sining at Bagong Sibol na Kamalayan – a group composed of filipina artists in different fields and genres of visual, literary, and performing arts.)

Crymsyn Hart

Crymsyn Hart is a best-selling author who has written over eighty novels all falling in the paranormal romance, supernatural, dark fantasy erotic category.  Her latest is the Seventh Star Press release Death’s Dance, Book One of the Deathly Encounters Series. With a love of the macabre and a bit of a Goth, Crymsyn worked as a psychic medium while she went to college in Boston at one of the country’s oldest tearoom. She attended Emerson College and graduated with a degree in Writing, Literature and Publishing.

Siobhan Kinkade
Pronounced Shi-von, Siobhan Kinkade originally started out as a Dungeons & Dragons character. True story! She was an obnoxious little blonde-haired, violet-eyed half-elf rogue who had a bad habit of screaming at random and stealing things from her fellow travelers. She made the transition from fantasy RPG character to fantasy literary character in 2011. S.H. Roddey wrote a story out of her usual genre, and she decided she needed a pen name rather than confuse her audience. The romance is strong with this one. Some is sweet and some is spicy. It’s about half and half on the paranormal/contemporary fields, and all of it is quite good!
.
Fans of romance and speculative fiction everywhere should look to the stars, as Seventh Starlight will be shining down upon the book world very soon!
