Synopsis of the Marathonarium Anthology, Volume One:

Welcome to the Marathonarium Anthology of short stories! This set of fiction and the experience collecting it encapsulates the spirit of the Imaginarium Convention, an event for writers, storytellers, and creatives of all genres held in Louisville, Kentucky each year!

You have before you the creative fortitude of nine determined storytellers who not only plunged into the madness that is marathon writing for three solid hours, but who also stepped outside of their comfort zones to hand over their unedited and hastily crafted works to be read by a stranger.

What began as a workshop to help authors complete a story for publication while producing a compendium to celebrate the ten-year anniversary of the Imaginarium Convention turned into a family of nine creative minds pushing themselves to the limit!

In the end, the writers accomplished something spectacular.

I mean, have you ever written a four-thousand-word story with beginning, middle, and end in three hours? And then have you turned that mass of words over to an editor for her review and suggestions?

It’s downright frightening. But the authors you’re about to meet (or meet again) in the following pages did that exact thing and lived to tell the tale…

The nine authors spotlighted in Volume 1 in the order that their stories are presented in the book are:

W. Jade Young

Brian T. Ronk

Alisa Childress

Jeannene Walker

Jen Selinsky

Lisa Mildon

Clayton Barnett

Carma Haley Shoemaker

Tom Ukinski

Sandy’s been writing stories since she was knee-high to a grasshopper when her great-grandmother shared her odd little tales of squeaky ghost-spiders around an apartment complex in Southern Illinois. The stories have developed to include strong young ladies working with dragons to save worlds from terrible fates, but those pesky spiders still show up from time to time.

There’s always something brewing at Sandy Lender Ink headquarters where some days, you just want the dragon to win.

Synopsis of Pan and the Message Chair:

Old Raliv, isolated and angry, lives alone in a hunting cabin. When he discovers someone poaching rabbits on his land, he sets off to eliminate the intruder, but finds himself engaged in an unexpected epistolary exchange with an unusual visitor named Pan.

What will develop from this encounter? And just who is this Pan?

Pan and the Message Chair is very human commercial fiction as it recounts one man’s growth through grief and sorrow to hope with the help of a mysterious friend with whom he exchanges gifts and notes by placing them on a log chair in a meadow.

This is an organic southern story that will resonate and inspire in these trying and difficult times. It has strong character development and a compelling, moving plot. Pan and the Message Chair is a deep, thoughtful investigation into the meaning of life, love and love lost.

Synopsis:

The Ragnar Stormbringer Tales, Volume II, contains three novellas previously released in the growing collection on eBook formats.  These novellas include The Awakening, Tears in the Snow, and Burning Skies!

The novellas in the Ragnar Stormbringer collection will continue to be released and made available individually on eBook formats, and the compendium is only being released in a print edition. These print compendiums are a great way to make the Ragnar Stormbringer Tales available to readers who do not have eReaders or prefer print editions.

Here are the synopsis of the three novellas included in this exciting new compendium!

The Awakening:

Following the end of a brutal war, Ragnar Stormbringer travels across the sea channel to the west with the warrior Thorsalla to visit her brother’s new settlement in the fertile lands of Ulstara.

Coming upon a scene of total devastation, they find no bodies, but there are a large number of strange tracks heading in one direction and signs of a few survivors in another.

Ragnar will soon discover that some mysteries are the gateways to even greater ones.

Tears in the Snow:

Howling winds carry promises of doom across the far north where a jarl’s people are falling prey to a horrific plight.

Chilling tales describing hordes of ravenous wolves falling upon homesteads and slaughtering every living thing, including men, women, children, and livestock, are not the worst of it. Rumors and sightings speak of a greater intelligence guiding the terrifying onslaught.

With his great war axe Raven Caller in hand, Ragnar Stormbringer and a small band of mercenaries are among the few willing to tread into the perilous lands.

Using wit, courage, and strength, Ragnar will soon discover that tears in the snow are the seeds of dark, powerful mysteries waiting to be unraveled.

Burning Skies:

The Magarian empire is falling under the shadow of the fanatical desert warriors of Adis Khan, who are raiding with impunity from the lands to the east.

Wielding his great war axe Raven Caller in defense of the empire’s borders, Ragnar Stormbringer leads a band of mercenaries, growing swiftly in renown and acclaim.

When the beautiful ruler of the Magarian city Kadaros, Aelia, hires Ragnar and his band of warriors for a secretive mission, a perilous adventure unfolds.

Fearsome wilderness predators, supernatural threats, and roving bands of lethal warriors stand in the way of Ragnar, his warriors, and their mission.

Blood will flow and the skies will burn.

Leland Province remains in danger. The sinister Fordon Blackclaw has returned from the shadows to strike at the heart of neighboring Esra, killing its Venur and making clear his intentions to retake what was once his: Mount Gore, seat of the Leland Dragon Council.

All around, the land grows weaker and weaker. Leland, once thought saved by Kallon Redheart, is without purpose, and within its borders, Murk Forest, a place of mystery and danger, has driven its inhabitants to seek aid. Esra is in flames, and the Rage Desert grows.

Dragon and human alike struggle to find their way, and the wizard Orman can sense that there may be more at stake than the affairs of dragons. Hope remains, yet it is not without obstacles. In Esra, Sela, the daughter of Kallon and Riza, found the well, a source of life, and made herself whole again. But her homecoming is not what she had imagined. Old wounds buried deep must reopen if life is to continue. Dragons, humans, wizards, and shape shifters are all at risk as the peace between dragon and human has finally been broken. War is here.
